I have 'come home' in every sense of the word
to the town where
I was born, raised and educated and back to Gillingham Golf Club, where I first started golf and joined as a Junior member on the 1st September
1972. To then becoming an Assistant Professional in February '74, for 6 years until 1980. Now,
27 years later, I have been appointed Club Professional, a job which I will
undertake with great pride and honour.
Gillingham Golf Club is very much my spiritual 'home in golf', where I spent many happy hours practicing - even in the dark!,
honing my skills to improve my game.
I have gained vast experience and knowledge from the Clubs where I
have worked, (Rochester & Cobham, Henley, Barnham Broom, Addington Court
and Upchurch) skills which I bring with me to Gillingham for the benefit of the Members. My
wide range of skills cover coaching to retail, club repairing to course management
and a reasonably high standard in playing golf itself!
With the old adage in mind - 'you can't please all of the people all of the time', I will endevour over time and given the chance, with your support, loyalty and suggestions to 'please all of the people most of the time'. So with this in mind, coupled with my dedication, sincerity & integrity (and a following wind with no downhill putts!) will look forward to a long and happy association of mutual satisfaction.
The greatest compliment once given to me, was being referred to as "the Professionals' Professional" by upholding the traditions and integrity of this fine but frustrating game that is golf.
